European Voluntary Service

The European Voluntary Service (EVS) offers young adults the opportunity to engage themselves in projects in Europe. The EVS supports charitable or non-profit organizations and companies – and helps the participants to gain personal and professional skills and competences. Their program is supported by the Movetia Foundation and the Swiss Confederation and is therefore as good as free of cost.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

Are you between 17 and 30 years old and do you live in one of the program or partner states of the EVS? If yes, you meet all the conditions. Please note that each and every person can only once participate in the EVS.

COSTS

All costs will be covered by the program.

THE PROJECT OFFERS

The project offers a unique experience to dive into a new culture and to support a non-profit project abroad. At the same time you will have the possibility to work on your own project idea and to attend a language course.

The program covers the following:

–    Travel fee: CHF 400.– per person
–    Costs during the stay (pocket money)
–    Accomodation and food
–    Costs for special needs of a handicapped person: 100% of the actual costs.
–    Extra costs (z.B. visa costs)

APPLICATION

Send your motivation letter and your curriculum vitae (CV) to your sending organization or directly to evs@scich.org.
Your project partner will then invite you to an interview either via skype or telephone.

EVS PROJECT

European Voluntary Service (EVS) is the European Commission’s project that allows a young person (17–30 years) to become a volunteer in another country for a specified period, normally between 6–12 months. The serviceactivities can be, for example, in the field of environment, arts and culture, activities with children, young people or the elderly, heritage or sports and leisure activities.

Each project has three partners, a volunteer, a sending organisation and a host organisation. The project has to take place in a country other than where the volunteers lives, is non-profit-making and unpaid and lasts for a limited period (maximum 12 months).

In Switzerland MOVETIA as national agency is responsible for all project approvals.
