Pre-departure Training

Mai 25

We are happy to have you on board as a participant for our pre-departure training on Saturday 25th of May in Bern!

This seminar is directed at all volunteers joining a workcamp and especially for workcamp coordinators.

Participation in the preparatory seminar is compulsory for minors who want to participate in a workcampand for our camp coordinators.

ABOUT THE TRAINING

With this pre-departure training at SCI, we want to distribute volunteers and campcoordinators with an in-depth preparation for their intercultural volunteering experience.

In general, we will provide different energizers and workshops about interculturality, stereotypes/prejudices, SCI history, peacebuilding, conflict resolution, power mechanisms, gender roles, micro-aggressions, etc. There will be specific workshops for campcoordinators to prepare you for your role, possible challenges and tasks.

As in every SCI seminar or training, you will also meet nice people and be able to enjoy a group of passionate volunteers in a real SCI atmosphere, which is supposed to give you a taste of what you will be promoting afterwards.

The working language of the training is English, so free command of the language is necessary in order for you to benefit most from the content of the training. Of course, questions can also be asked in either German or French if it’s easier for the person asking the question.

VENUE & TIMES

The seminar will take place at Chinderchübu Bern (Sulgenbachstrasse 5a, 3007 Bern).

COSTS

This training is free of charge for volunteers participating in a workcamp and for campcoordinators.
