Decolonize Volunteering: Embrace Awareness and Inspire Action!

Welcome to the Decolonize Tool

This is an educational tool designed to give you a deeper and clearer understanding of volunteering and « volontourism ».

Through the Decolonize Tool, you’ll explore:

How global structures are built

The way power is distributed globally

How you, as a volunteer, interact with these systems

What’s Inside?

The tool is divided into four key sections, each offering an opportunity to learn, reflect, and grow:

  1. A Journey Through History
    • Discover the history of colonialism, its influence on the world today, and its impact on modern volunteering practices.
  2. Deeper Insights into Global Issues (Optional)
    • Dive into the ongoing legacy of colonialism in four macro areas:
      • Globalization
      • Climate
      • Gender
      • Human Rights
    • Videos and quizzes will guide you, not to test your knowledge, but to invite exploration of topics you might not have encountered. You can skip this section for a shorter experience.
  3. Personal Reflection
    • Reflect on your experiences and evaluate your learning journey through the platform.
  4. Resources for Everyday Impact
    • Access extra tools and resources to apply what you’ve learned and foster positive change in your daily life.

The entire course takes approximately 60 minutes. If you prefer a shorter version, skipping the second section, it will take just 20-30 minutes.
