We are happy you are interested in joining our pre-departure training on Saturday 17th of October in Bern! This seminar is directed at all volunteers as a preparation for your volunteer engagement with SCI Switzerland. And open to all intersted ones. Read this post to find out the answers to the questions ‘when’, ‘where’ and ‘why’!
ABOUT THE TRAINING
In general, we will offer different energizers and workshops on topics such as interculturality, SCI history, group dynamics, conflict resolution, power mechanisms, non-violent communication, cultural stereotypes/prejudices, gender roles, racism, micro-aggressions, safer spaces and much more. We will look at opportunities as well as challenges in international volunteering projects.
As in every SCI seminar or training, you will meet nice people and be able to enjoy a group of passionate volunteers in a real SCI atmosphere, which is supposed to give you a taste of what you will be experiencing and promoting afterwards in your volunteer project.
FOR WHOM IT IS
With this pre-departure training at SCI, we want to equip future volunteers with an in-depth preparation for their intercultural volunteering experience. The training is open to anyone interested in our work and in our Volunteer Camps and LTV – you are also welcome if you do not plan to volunteer with us. Once you have attended the seminar, it is considered as completed and you can participate in all our future volunteer camps and LTV.
Participation in the preparatory seminar is compulsory for minor volunteers, volunteers wishing to join a volunteer camp in the so-called Global South and LTVs.
