Capacity building, 24. – 30. November 2026 in Bern, Switzerland I Part 1

Dig into questions around inclusion, identiy and intersectionality!

This two-part mobility project looks at inclusion with a current and intersectional lens. Increasing fragmentation needs responses that look at the wider picture and interconnected realities of our systems of oppression that inherently exclude and discriminate in the first place. This training aims to challenge what we think we know about inclusion and diversity in youth work.

The approach is participatory and based on learning through non-formal education methods, such as learning by doing and playing.

About the Training 1

The first training will provide the participants with the time and space to get familiar with the core concepts of inclusion and intersectionality. They will work with participatory, creative methods throughout the entire activity. The participants will learn about the nature of inclusion in their diverse contexts, power dynamics, structural violence and lessons to be learned from unjust systems in order to build hopeful futures

Practicalities
  • Who can participate? Participants must be residing in one of the following countries: Switzerland, Germany, Portugal, Palestine, France, Italy, Spain or Greece and be at least 18 years old (no upper age limit).
  • Financial conditions: Participation is for free, thanks to the coverage by Movetia Foundation. All travel costs are reimbursed up to a reasonable amount.
  • Simple life: We will live as a community during this week!  You will sleep in a room shared with a few other people and will be involved in cleaning and cooking tasks. There is a forest and a little stream close by.
  • Sustainable food: The food we provide will be vegan. This is not just a practical decision, but also an ideological one.
  • Safer space: We will do our best to make the project a brave and safer space, to create awareness and take into account the individual needs of all participants,, as well as their diverse contexts and identities.
  • Accessibility:  We will try our best to welcome and accommodate people with individual needs. The house is generally wheelchair-friendly and we have the opportunity to take additional measures.

We encourage participants to take part in training one and two. However, it is also possible to join for one part only. The second activity (9-15 March 2027) will be a practice lab that follows on from the training, co-creating methods and building from each others’ and local initiatives. Stay tuned for updates!
