Mountain Paths and Pastures (Maloja GR) [31 Mai – 11 Jun 2022]
Description: Salecina is located at the border of Upper Engadin and Bergell in one of the most beautiful landscapes. It is a self-administered holiday centre with an uncomplicated and open atmosphere. It is a paradise for hikers and mountain climbers, but also a quiet refuge for artists.
Type of Work: The work will involve mainly cleaning and maintenance of paths and pastures. We will also root out neophytes in Maloja with Pro Natura (Swiss nature protection organization). As far as possible, we will work in the Maloja area, but for certain kind of works we will also be in the Bregaglia valley. So be aware there may be relatively long journeys to and from work.
Ecole d’Humanité spirit & renovation work (Hasliberg BE) [03 – 16 Jul 2022]
Description: “Ecole d’Humanité” is located in an alpine village between Interlaken and Lucerne. Surrounded by awe-inspiring peaks, the international village for living, learning, and growing is home to students and adults from around 20 different countries. During the work, you will support the maintenance and housekeeping team of the Ecole d’Humanité in preparing the school for the next school year.
Type of Work: 70% Exterior work (Gardening and maintenance of exterior areas). 30% Indoors (such as supporting removals, light renovation work).
Holiday camp for asylum-seeking children (Haute-Nendaz VS) [09 – 23 Jul 2022 or 16 – 30 Jul 2022]
Description: The “asylum” sector of the Office for Social Services of the Canton of Valais hosts a summer camp for children of asylum seeking families together with disadvantaged local kids.
Type of Work: You will manage every day a group of children, together with other local caretakers and an assistant. You’ll participate in the animation, the creation of activities for the children and the practical life of the camp. Most of the programme is prepared. The children will stay with us the whole week, they don’t go back home at night; so you will also spend the evenings with them.
Mountain hut renovation works in Doro (Chironico TI) [09 – 16 Jul 2022]
Description: The “Zentrum für Begegnung in Doro” resulted from the collective “Popolo Doro”. Originally started by Swiss-German Youngsters in 1976. While one part of the collective concentrated on agriculture, another part built and renovated houses in order to create a place, where seminars could be held, holidays could be spent and nature enjoyed.
Type of Work: This year’s planned works are: working on two houses with wood and with stones and mortar / maybe: supporting biodiversity by putting a fence for hedges and building a stone wall. Be aware that the work may be physically demanding and technically challenging!
