EVS OPPORTUNITIES

European Voluntary Service in Switzerland

European Voluntary Service (EVS): what is it?

The European Voluntary Service (EVS) programme was created in order to promote solidarity and a sense of community among younger people within Europe (and other partner Countries). With this project, participants get to volunteer for many different organisations with various cultural and social aims. This is a great opportunity to learn new skills and develop their competences, it is not merely an internship experience, as it allows space for self-discovery and the development of personal projects. My time at SCI Switzerland has been incredibly enriching, offering me both new insights and a deeper understanding of volunteering. Even with my previous experience, being part of SCI has shown me new perspectives and ways of engaging with communities on an international level. Through trainings, seminars, and a volunteer camp visit, I’ve met inspiring people and gained valuable experiences that have contributed to my personal and professional growth. I’m truly excited for what lies ahead!

EVS in autumn 2026 in Switzerland: Applications open!

Start date: 14/09/2026 (or by arrangement)
End date: 31/12/2026 (or by arrangement)

About the work

During your time as an EVS volunteer at SCI Switzerland, you will be involved in evaluating our six volunteer camps that took place in Switzerland during the summer months. You will also be responsible for placing volunteers in camps abroad, issuing certificates to past volunteers, and updating the SCI statistics from the international network.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to SCI Switzerland’s communication efforts, e.g. by recording and editing videos or providing other support to promote SCI activities. Alternatively, you may be able to gain a deeper insight into fundraising, which will enhance your resourcing and financial management skills.

Alongside office tasks, you will have the opportunity to participate in, and if you wish, co-lead, non-formal events such as preparatory seminars for volunteers, living libraries, school affairs, SCI info events and international training sessions. This involves not only (co-)facilitation, but also supporting the conception and realisation of workshops held at events or seminars.

Ideal volunteer profile

– You are aged 18–30
– You are available for the full 3.5 months
– You have a good knowledge of English and, preferably, German and/or French
