Take part in the next pre-departure training (25 March)!

We are happy to have you on board as a participant for our pre-departure training on Saturday, 25th of March 2023!

This seminar is directed at all volunteers, incl. workcamp participants, workcamp coordinators and longterm volunteers.

With this pre-departure training at SCI, we want to distribute volunteers and camp coordinators with an in-depth preparation for their intercultural volunteering experience, whether it is a workcamp in Switzerland or abroad, a long-term project or EVS program.

In general, we will provide different energizers and workshops about interculturality, stereotypes/prejudices, SCI history, peacebuilding, conflict resolution, power mechanisms, gender roles, micro-aggressions, etc.

As in every SCI seminar or training, you will also meet nice people and be able to enjoy a big group of passionate volunteers in a real SCI atmosphere, which is supposed to give you a taste of what you will be promoting afterwards.

The working language of the training is English, so free command of the language is necessary in order for you to benefit most from the content of the training. Of course, questions can also be asked in either German or French if it’s easier for the person asking the question 😉

The seminar will take place at “Kindertreff Chinderchübu Bern”. The accommodation is located at Sulgenbachstrasse 5a, 3007 Berne.

How to get there? From Berne main station, you can easily walk to the venue ( It’s approx. 15’ walk from the main station). Or you can take bus No. 10 (direction Köniz) to the stop “Monbijou” and walk 3’ from there. Or catch Tram No. 9 (direction Wabern) also to the stop “Monbijou” and walk from there.

  • This training is free of charge for volunteers participating in a Workcamp and for Campcoordinators.
  • 60- (incl. lunch) for all other volunteers. Please pay the 60.- before the seminar starts to our account: Service Civil International Schweiz, Monbijoustrasse 32, 3011 Bern, IBAN: CH26 0900 0000 8003 3387 4
